These Khukuri are specially still used during the high end training of the Gurkhas in the jungle of Brunei.
These knives are hand forged in the handicraft factory of Gorkha Zone Khukuri House (GZKH) in Kathmandu- Nepal. All of the knives in our factories are made by a local black smith of Nepal called Kami. Their cast Kamis makes them a official maker of the khukuri knifes since centuries of Hindu religion. All knives are hand forged by hammer after the steel is heated on a wood coal and they are hardened by quenching on oil. The knives after that are naturally tempered by heating and slow cooling methods.
The khukuri knives are basically made by local black Smith a born khukuri maker of Nepal. Recycled High carbon 5160 steel blade are heated in a wood charcoal and then forged by a hammer to give a shape of a khukuri. Traditional hand forged method is used for making a blade. The steel is tempered differentially on the bevel, body and spine. The knifes are chemically etched to get the pattern. Rose wood and white metal is used for making a handle. Yak hide are wrapped in wood to make a scabbard. This single khukuri takes at least a 5-7 days to make it complete.
