Description
These historic doors were custom built for the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC, and were in use for almost 50 years between 1952 until 2002. The doors provided access to the Senate and House Chambers at the top of the iconic portico steps in front of each body. Yes - the same steps that are featured in a number of movies and other historical recordings. Both are original International Steel Revolving Doors circa 1952 with a Satin Bronze finish. Each door set is in good working order and includes:
Four wings with full view glass,
Two curved Side Walls with full view glass (unique in a side wall),
Canopy/Roof,
Shaft Assembly,
Speed Control
Doors are FDS style (Fire Safety Device) Roll-aside which means the doors can be collapsed and rolled to the side to create a large opening for use as an emergency egress or facilitating the movement of large items through the doorway.
This was the Cadillac of revolving doors at the time. These doors are of the highest quality and construction. They do not make doors like this anymore.
The doors have a 7 foot inside diameter and are identical except for the transom/canopy height: Door #1 is 8'7" tall; Door #2 is 9' 1 3/4".
